Tunigamnuolepola Tagovailoa (born March 2, 1998) is an American football quarterback for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football in Alabama, where he was the offensive MVP of the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship and received the Maxwell and Walter Camp Awards as a sophomore. Although his junior season was cut short by a hip injury, he was selected fifth overall by the Dolphins in the 2020 NFL Draft. Tagovailoa began his career as a backup to Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and took over as a starter at the end of his rookie year and served as Miami’s primary starter from the 2021 season.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was taken off the field on a stretcher during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday, after suffering obvious head and neck injuries – more than a week after being injured in another game after a short time.
The team said in an update that Tagovailoa is conscious, has movement in all his organs and was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. It added that he is expected to be released from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and travel to Miami with the team tonight.
Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed Tagovailoa had nothing more serious than an injury after the team lost 27-15.
Tagovailoa completed 8 of 14 passes and one interception for 110 yards on Thursday night before being ruled out of the game. The Alabama’s third-year signal-caller finished second in this matchup in the NFL with 925 passing yards, and third in passing touchdowns with eight.
