Triple Jump Meaning and Techniques

It is also known as hop Step Jump. In order to qualify this jump, an athlete have to made three attempts. The athlete must take each attempt with in 1½ minutes. It is a foul if the athlete begins the attempts after having passed the take off board or does not reach the landing area at the end of the attempt.

Techniques of Triple Jump: There are three techniques of tripple jump:
(i) Flat (ii) Steep (ili) Mixed.

(i)Aproach Run: The check mark is placed so that athlete arrives take off board accurately with maximum acceleration.

(1) Take off for hop: In this phase the body is kept upright. The stride are driven high and this leg drive is coordinated by action of opposite arm. During this phase the athlete lands with the same foot from which he took off.

(i) Step: Almost as soon as his landing leg pushes off, the knee of the jumper’s free leg moves forward as he stretches to jump as
far as possible.

(iv) Landing: The landing must be made with the feet together a head of body same as in long jump,
