Levesque told ESPN’s First Take that he was diagnosed with viral pneumonia in September and that his wife, WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon, noticed him coughing up blood. He went to the hospital, where doctors discovered fluid in his lungs and around his heart.
Levesque said doctors told him his heart was working at full strength and that he was in “bad” heart failure.

Opening his heart to fear from last September, Triple H said he initially had viral pneumonia, and that his wife, WWE scion Stephanie McMahon, saw him spitting blood. Testing revealed that he was facing cardiac problems, his heart was not pumping adequately. He was taken to the emergency room after heart failure.
“I was nose-diving, and was on that one yard line where you don’t want to be for your family and your future,” he said.
“We have three little girls – 15, 13, 11. Suddenly I come home, I’m a little sick, and their father, who is always strong, is in the hospital. I don’t know if they understand the consequences , but there are moments when you think ‘that’s it.’ Do you wake up? It’s hard to swallow, and it makes you think differently – I’m sure, as (Smith) comes out of your COVID scare – it makes you feel differently about life It doesn’t make you less motivated for the things you do, but it certainly makes you appreciate what more you have.”
