Injury
The Dallas Cowboys escaped their trip to Minnesota with a sixth-straight win, but they did not escape unscathed. During the second quarter of the contest they lost left tackle Tyron Smith for the remainder of the contest to an ankle injury. Smith was listed on the practice report as limited throughout the week with the ankle, and he was unable to finish the first half.
Then, on the game’s final drive, cornerback Trevon Diggs had his leg crashed into, injuring his ankle as well.

The Dallas Cowboys registered a 20-16 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, but the condition of star cornerback Trayvon Diggs was cause for concern.
Diggs was out of the game late in the fourth quarter. Mike Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News reported after the game that Diggs had sprained his right ankle and would undergo further evaluation on Monday.
Before exiting Sunday’s game, Diggs only recorded one tackle, but he did an excellent job of closing Vikings star receiver Justin Jefferson.
In his second season in the NFL, Diggs has been one of the best defensive players ever. He leads the league with seven interceptions and 11 pass breakups and also has two touchdowns. Sunday’s game against the Vikings was their first game without a hitch this year.
Stats
As a true freshman in Alabama in 2016, Diggs played safety, wide receiver and was a return specialist. He ended the year with five tackles and a tremendous foul on defense, 11 receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown on offense, and a total of 296 return yards on special teams.
As a sophomore in 2017, Diggs moved to cornerback full-time. [3] [4] Before being passed on the depth chart by Levi Wallace, he was the starter for the season opener against Florida State University. He defended 6 tackles and 3 passes. He also played in special teams, returning 18 punts for 154 yards with 21-yard longs and 2 kickoffs for 74 yards.
As a junior in 2018, Diggs started the first six games of the season with a broken leg before losing for the year he faced against the University of Arkansas. [5] He finished the year with 20 tackles and one interception.
As a senior in 2019, he started 12 games while recording 2 fumble recoveries including 37 tackles, 3 interceptions (tied for second on team), 8 passes defended (tied for team lead) and 100-yard touchdown return doing. He returned one interception for 8 yard touchdowns, recovered 2 two fumbles (for one touchdown) and had over 100 combined return yards against the University of Arkansas. He had his career-high 10 tackles against Louisiana State University.
Diggs was reevaluated on Monday and should be recovering after spraining an ankle during the Cowboys’ 20-16 win over the Vikings, Ian Rapoport, of the NFL Network reports.
Diggs was battling an ankle injury prior to Sunday’s match, but he was able to follow suit without a designation. Although he started and played all but two defensive snaps from the Cowboys during the competition, he apparently sprained an ankle at some point. However, it appears he has survived a serious injury and will likely be available for Dallas’ Week 9 clash with the Broncos.
