The Raiders let the Chiefs do what the Chiefs crime best: exploit the opposing defense. They had it in the first half, but it takes all 60 minutes to play Kansas City. The Raiders’ attack on the defense slowed in the second half and they had no answer for quarterback Patrick Mahomes & Co.

Everyone knows Kyles is the go-to man for the Chiefs, yet the Raiders let him score four times.

Raiders also beat themselves up on several occasions.

What would have been a missed field goal for the Chiefs resulted in a costly holding penalty on the Raiders during a field goal attempt, which turned into a Kells touchdown. The Raiders stopped the Chiefs in the Red Zone, something it was very difficult for the teams to do, but wiped them out with their own mistake.

With only five minutes to go in fourth, the Raiders decided they would “play to win the game”, as Harm Edwards famously said, rather than take the tie towards the end of the game. Down 30-29, they went for two instead of taking the (significantly more) guaranteed points from the extra point. The two-point attempt failed, so they were left behind.

Welcome back to my Odds Checker Dancers! My prop of the day is Travis Kelsey anytime touchdown. This line sits at -130 right now for a good reason. Kelce has 87 receptions for 1,226 yards and has scored seven touchdowns in 16 games versus the Raiders in his career.

He’s cashing in touchdowns against attackers at 60%! I think we see some point on prime time tonight

The Raiders have already allowed three of the four tight ends they have faced this year to score. I hope Mahomes sets the tone and tries to get Kelsey involved early.

Kells will have plenty of chances as he is Mahomes’ favorite target. If you want to be risky you can take Kelsea on 600 to score the first touchdown. I’ll lock the keels in at touchdown any time, so put on those dancing shoes and meet me on the dance floor!

Mahomes was “angry about how we had played up to that point,” said Mahomes, who threw four touchdown passes to taunt Travis Kyles. “We needed everyone to go out there and fight them.”

The Raiders still had a chance when Davante Adams, who had previously caught a 58-yard touchdown, added 48-yards with 4:29 to go. It came after Kelce’s final touchdown catch, when Kansas City failed in a 2-point attempt that left the score 30–23. But instead of kicking an extra point, Raiders coach Josh McDaniels also went for 2.

Josh Jacobs, who had cut through the Chiefs’ defense all night, filled in at the goal line.

The Raiders took the ball back with 2:29 last time, and a long third-down pass down the Kansas City sideline to Adams appeared to bring him into field-goal range. But the play was reviewed and Adams failed to get both feet into bounds, and Carr threw an incomplete on fourth and -1, with 47 seconds remaining before the Chiefs ran out of clock.

“We didn’t get separated from each other,” Chiefs Safety Justin Reid said. “We fought adversity.”

Carr finished with 241 yards, and Jacobs ran for 133 yards and one point as the Raiders lost to the Chiefs (4–1) for the fourth time. Daniel Carlsen was 3 for 3 on field goal, taking his streak to 38 in a row.

Which he would not have given to give him a chance at number 39.

“We had a chance,” Daniels said. “We didn’t make a play or two at the end to get it done.”
