LAS VEGAS – Tracy Cortez’s weekend went almost as planned.

The UFC flyweight prospect scored his third UFC win and extended his overall winning streak to nine after dismissing veteran Justin Kish on Saturday’s UFC main card on ESPN 22.

Despite winning at home, Cortez (9-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) didn’t make up his full purse as he lost 20 percent due to weight loss. Cortez weighed half a pound over the non-title flyweight limit, registering 126.5 pounds on the scale.

Cortez said that Miss was out of her hands.

“So I was off point-5, and they usually give us an hour to lose the weight, but they didn’t clear me,” Cortez told reporters, including MMA junkies, at the UFC Apex. “The doctor won’t let me cut half a pound.

“He checked me out, and he wasn’t okay with me cutting the rest of the weight. I could have cut it, I could drink it, but he wouldn’t let me.”

Cortez was counting down that hour to lose weight, but unfortunately the weighing-in doctor didn’t allow her to continue with her cut.
