Torah Bright was born in Cooma, New South Wales, and began training as a downhill skier. She later switched to snowboarding. Her brother, Ben, is also a successful snowboarder, and has been her coach since the beginning. She began to make a name for herself as a Halfpipe competitor in the early 2000s, and by 2004, was finishing atop the leader board at multiple competitions.
She has won a Bronze medal at the FIS Snowboarding World Championships in Slopestyle; two Gold medals and two Silver medals at the Winter X Games in Superpipe (an X Games record); and she won a Gold in the Halfpipe competition at the 2010 Olympics. She won a Silver in Superpipe at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, as well.

Son Angus, born last July to the two-time medalist mom and her fellow pro snowboarder husband Angus Thomson, is latched on while crouched naked on the grass.
