Tom Brady is 44 years old. His NFL career spanned several decades. He has won seven Super Bowl titles. But he’s a human who bleeds just like the rest of us – even if the referees don’t believe it.

Brady was called out for the first non-player conduct penalty of his career (!!!) during Sunday’s NFC Divisional Round matchup with the Rams after a hit from Von Miller caught him in the mouth. Miller’s hit initially hit Brady in the chest, but his helmet made some contact with Brady’s mouth, causing a cut.

Anyway, Brady was not happy. He showed the officers a cut of his lip in an attempt to inflict harsh punishment. Instead, he got himself a penalty.

Tom Brady gets non-player penalty for yelling at referee about blood-drenching hit

Tom Brady went down 20-3 against the Los Angeles Rams with no touchdown, an interception, and a bloody mouth.

Brady’s cracked lip occurred when he was hit by Rams von Miller on a pass play. It was one of 10 pressures generated by the Los Angeles Pass Rush in the first half.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback was furious that no harsh punishment was given to the passer-by and the referee was informed. Instead of getting the 15-yard penalty he wanted on the Rams, Brady was instead receiving a 15-yard penalty for inconsistent conduct at the end.

According to ESPN’s Jenna Line, Brady had never been called out for taunting or non-player conduct in his career before Sunday.

As the Buccaneers quarterback approached his huddle, referee Shawn Hochuli threw a flag and called for a penalty on Brady. In the next play, Brady tries to tell Hochuli that his mouth is bleeding.

Tampa Bay was trailing 17-3 at the time, and Ryan Sukop of the Bucs missed a field goal to end the capture.

Penalty

Tom Brady spoke very early of the NFL’s reluctance to call for a non-player conduct penalty against him. For the first time in his NFL career, Brady was called out for a non-player conduct penalty—called against him at age 44 (yes it took 22 seasons).

Brady received a penalty for arguing with an official when Von Miller hit a hit during the Rams’ wild 30-27 win over the Bucks on Sunday that may have caused a bloody lip for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback . Miller hit Brady Good, causing him to yell at referee Shawn Hochuli because there was no flag to rough up a passerby. Hochuli didn’t buy what Brady was selling and instead flagged Brady.

Brady was not sent to the field by Miller, but the helmet on his chin could have bled from his lip. Naturally, Brady wasn’t happy with the no-call.

Retiring

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were knocked out of the playoffs and had dreams of a repeat as Super Bowl champions as they fell to the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round. Not only did Books season end on Sunday, but Tom Brady could have a stellar career as well.

Leading up to this playoff performance against Los Angeles, rumors swirled that this could be the final run for the 44-year-old, who might elect to retire this off-season. CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora even said that some teammates on Brady’s Buccaneers are pressuring him to potentially move away from the NFL.

“I haven’t put too much thought into it,” Brady said of his future shortly after the Tampa Bay loss. “We’ll take it day by day and see where we are
