Draft class
Todd Gurley, a first-round pick by the Los Angeles Rams (St. Louis Rams), was the 10th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Gurley was the first running back selected that year. He also held the highest running back pick from Georgia.
There is a vague rule in the NFL not to waste a high draft pick for running backs. Gurli was an exception but perhaps it was not Rama’s wisest decision. The investment required to drive a quality back hardly requires a first round of selection, especially not a top-10 overall selection.
Gurley was an outstanding player for many seasons, leading the team to position 22. The running back developed into an exceptional player, leading from yards and scrimmage to touchdowns in his third season.
Gurley compiled a total of 6,430 yards (5.2 yards per touch) and 56 touchdowns in 58 games over four seasons.
