Selected by the Broncos in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft, Tebow became their primary starter during the 2011 season. His tenure revitalized a struggling team, leading them to their first AFC West title and playoff victory since 2005. Questions over Tebow’s future potential, however, resulted in him being traded the following offseason to Jets, where he spent one year in a backup role.

Monk

Tim tebow

Tim Tebow was all the buzz Saturday night at the Denver Broncos’ practice. The rookie quarterback stood out not only for his play at practice but for his shaved locks, the top of his head completely sheared to leave a ring of hair that made him look like a monk. The pranks the veterans will play.

Tebow and the other rookies had their heads decorated with wacky haircuts before the workout and they had to show them off during warm-ups when they couldn’t hide underneath their helmets. “I think all the rookies had a good time with it,” Tebow said. “It was something to give everybody a laugh, something also to build chemistry.”

Bald

Whether you enjoy rookie hazing or think it is a juvenile practice, you have to appreciate what the Denver Broncos‘ veterans did to rookie quarterback Tim Tebow on Saturday. Looks like Jockey and Nike will have to wait a few months before using the former Florida Gators star for any endorsement photos. Welcome to the NFL, kid.

The goal, according to The Denver Post was to make Tebow look like the Statue of Liberty. “It was my vision,” linebacker Wesley Woodyard (a Kentucky alum) said. As expected, Tebow took the hazing in stride. “I just took it, tried to be a good sport with it,” Tebow said. “It was fun, you know? I think all the rookies had a good time with it. It was something to give everybody a laugh, something also to build chemistry.”

Promise

Tim Tebow is one of the most memorable players in college football history. A two-time National Champion, two-time SEC Player of the Year and 2007 Heisman Trophy winner, one could likely make an argument that Tebow is one of the greatest players in the history of college football. And he also had many iconic moments.

One of those iconic moments came in 2008. Three games into the season and fresh off of a 30-6 win over Tennessee, Florida returned home to face an Ole Miss team it was supposed to handle with ease. Instead, the Rebels pulled off a 31-30 upset win in Gainesville. After the game, Tebow gave his iconic, “I promise,” speech, apologizing to Florida fans for failing to accomplish an undefeated season and saying that nobody in the country would play harder than him the rest of the season. Florida would go on to win the National Championship at the end of that season.

Friar cut

It’s rookie haircut time in Denver Broncos training camp, which means the first-year pros got some awful, awful coifs shaved into their heads. Above theri is the same “Friar” look veterans once gave Tim Tebow.

Broncos haircut

It’s the end of an era in Denver as the Broncos are doing away with a rookie tradition in which rookies were given ridiculous haircuts, like the wild one that Tim Tebow got way back in 2010. First-year head coach Vic Fangio, who already put an end to music being played at training camp, explained why he wanted the Broncos to get out of the barber business.

“I just don’t think it’s right. I just don’t believe in hazing,” Fangio said, via The Athletic’s Nicki Jhabvala. “There are traditions that stay put. Guys are getting up in front of the team and doing a little skit every night. Maybe a rookie’s carrying somebody’s pads off the field and so on, or bringing in the doughnuts or the breakfast. But nothing physical.”
