Tim Cohn will visit the States later this month. But this isn’t for a vacation – it’s a business trip.

The decorated tactician received an invitation that he could not refuse by Eric Spoelstra, serving as an assistant coach on the Miami Heat’s Summer League team.

“I’ve been invited to work with the Heat for their Summer League team that starts from San Francisco to Vegas,” Cone told Signal’s Paolo Del Rosario.

“The bottom line is that I will be the assistant coach to their head coach which is Malik Allen, who coaches the Summer League team.”

Cohn explained that he would not be working with Spoelstra, as he would be under Heat assistant coach Malik Allen.

Allen, 43, is a former player who has been in the NBA from 2000–11. He has been under Spoelstra for the past three years.

“Eric Spoelstra doesn’t involve himself in the Summer League. He comes to visit for three or four days just to say hello to the coaches. It’s really going to happen with Coach Allen,” said the 24-time PBA Champion Coach Explained.

After seeing Jimmy Alapag flourish in Sacramento, Spoelstra actually came up with the idea to bring in Cone.

Back in 2019, the Kings invited Alapag to be the assistant coach. Since then, he has been working as an assistant for G League affiliate Stockton of Sacramento.

“It’s no secret that I’m a good friend of Eric Spoelstra. It started with Jimmy Alapag. Jimmy was of course a guest coach for the Sacramento Kings. After the Summer League, he became an assistant to their G League team,” Con shared.
