Woods entered this Open full of hope. Then his opening tee shot, a trademark stinger, landed in a divot in the middle of the miles-wide fairway at the first hole.

He then chunked his second shot from the tough lie into the burn in front of the green. After a drop, Woods hit a delicate little chip over the water to leave himself a 3-footer for bogey – which he missed. Bad got worse really fast.

Tee Time Thursday:

Woods gets prime placement — for those on the eastern seaboard, at least. Woods tees off at 9:59 a.m. ET on Thursday, a late tee time in local time, alongside Max Homa and 2022 U.S. Open winner, Matthew Fitzpatrick.

Not all the marquee names are off in the morning hours as fans will be able to watch the likes of Tiger Woods, Matt Fitzpatrick and Max Homa at 10 a.m.

When does tee off on thursday:

Mickelson carded even-par Thursday in his first round at The Open at St. Andrews. While it’s the 150th edition of the famous championship, the hot topic this week has been about the ongoing dispute among the various stakeholders over LIV Golf and the golfers who defected to the new series.

When asked Tuesday about LIV Golf, Woods said, “I disagree with it. I think that what they’ve done is they’ve turned their back on what has allowed them to get to this position.”
