Grip

Golf fans are undoubtedly familiar with Tiger Woods’ various swing changes he’s made over the years. But all those changes have been slightly underestimated by Tiger in his grip. It has been a subtle yet ongoing development, with each change notifying the next one.

Woods exploded onto the scene with a strong grip, which he employed as a junior golfer through his victory at the 1997 Masters. In the above picture you can see that the left wrist is more bent. This is because his left hand is in a stronger position on the grip side. His right hand is basically neutral – perhaps on the slightly stronger side of neutral. Combined, those two forces push the shaft toward the target.

This catch resulted in a swing in which the club was across the line at the top of the backswing with a closed clubface. It was an extremely powerful move, but one Tiger himself said he struggled to replicate, leading to his first major swing change.

Crash

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said Wednesday that Tiger Woods’ car crash in February was the result of driving great golf at nearly twice the speed limit and a failure to negotiate curves. Alex Villanueva said Tiger Woods was driving his Genesis SUV on the road at an estimated 84–87 mph, with a speed limit of 45 mph.

“The primary cause or factor for this traffic collision was driving at a speed unsafe for road conditions and an inability to negotiate the curve of the road,” Villanueva was quoted as saying by Reuters.

15-time major champion Tiger Woods suffered serious leg injuries before rolling into Rolling Hills Estates just outside Los Angeles in February when his SUV hit a protruding middle, crossed two oncoming lanes and hit a tree. Uprooted. Notably, Woods was recovering from back surgery two months earlier at the time of the car accident.

Woods was discharged from hospital in March and is recovering at his home in Florida. He suffered an open leg fracture and injuries to the foot and ankle. The 45-year-old never went without playing for a full year, dating back to his first PGA Tour event at age 16. He had hoped to play in the Masters tournament this year, which begins on Thursday.

There was a collective gasp of concern by golf fans after Tiger Woods backed out from a tee shot on his final hole of the day during the opening round of the 2022 PGA Championship.

After swinging his iron on the ninth hole at Southern Hills Country Club, Woods took a step back and appeared to injure his right leg.

Woods was already struggling in the final 13 holes, and finished with a 4-over-par 74.

According to Eric Bailey of Tulsa World, Woods said, “I can’t load it. Loading. Pressing it hurts. It hurts to walk. Twisting hurts.” “It’s just golf. If I don’t do it, I’ll be fine.”

Despite the injury of late, Woods said he is still planning to prepare for his second round on Friday. Woods told ESPN’s Marty Smith that there will be plenty of treatments and ice baths for the rest of Thursday to prepare for another 18.

“It’s felt better before,” Woods told Smith. “It’s a little sore right now and we’ll go back and start the process of getting ready for tomorrow.”

There was also a cause for concern over Woods’ grunting that his leg was the most damaged in his near-fatal car accident in February 2021. Back in November when Woods was discussing his recovery, he said that the amputation of his right leg was on the table.

Car accident

Tiger Woods was hospitalized after a car wreck on February 23, 2021, and officials have officially ruled it an accident.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement after the pro athlete was “pulled out of the rubble with ‘jaws of life’ by Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics” after his vehicle overturned multiple times. The car suffered “major damage” and Woods’ manager later told Golf Digest that he had “several leg injuries.” The California native was the only passenger in the car.

During a press conference at the time, more details about the accident and Woods’ condition were revealed. Officials noted that when first responders arrived at the scene, the golf champion was conscious, saying “there was no evidence of damage.”

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said, “The first contact was with the center of the center, then from there crossed into the opposing lane of traffic, hit the curb, hit a tree, and there were several rollovers during that process.”

Kids

Few golfers have held the level of respect that Tiger Woods, 45, has. The four-time PGA Tour champion has been in the limelight since he was just a young child, and moved on when he was just 20 years old. Tiger married model Elin Nordegren, 41, in 2004 and the couple had two beautiful children. Unfortunately, the marriage was not meant to be, as the pair split in 2010 following a highly publicized cheating scandal, where it was revealed that the golfer was having an affair with New York club hostess Rachel Uchitel. Despite his public separation from Elin, Tiger seems to have a very good relationship with both of his children.
