The Buccaneers followed up their Super Bowl title with a win to open the 2021 NFL season. They defeated the Cowboys 31-29 in a back-and-forth contest at home on Thursday night.

Tampa Bay has had its share of issues and was plagued with turnover. The latest edition of NFL Thursday Night Football (Cardinals-Seahawks) garnered 8.5 ratings and an average of 14.77 million viewers on Fox and NFL Network, tying the Buccaneers-Bears in Week 5 as the highest-rated edition of TNF’s season. Once again during the 2021 NFL season, “Thursday Night Football” will be broadcast thanks to a partnership between the NFL Network, Fox, Amazon Prime, as well as NBC. Collectively, the four outlets will provide 16 games to fans on Thursday nights. NFL Network will air 14 of these games with Fox and Amazon Prime starting in Week 5 and running through Week 15 with the exception of the Week 12 Thanksgiving Night game between Buffalo and New Orleans. That competition as well as the 2021 season kickoff game on September 9, with defending Super Bowl champions Tampa Bay hosting Dallas, will air on NBC. In addition to Weeks 2-4, the NFL Network will also fly solo for the Week 16 game between San Francisco and Tennessee.

Week 2

In Week 15, two of the five designated matchups will be played on Saturday while the rest will be played on Sunday. Specific dates and start times for such specified Week 15 matchups will be determined and announced no later than four weeks prior to Game Day.

In Week 18, two games will be played on Saturday, one at 4:30 PM ET and one at 8:15 PM ET while the rest will be played on Sunday at 1:00 PM ET and 4:25 PM ET, and a matchup on Sunday night Will be played at 8:20 p.m. ET. Specific dates and start times for Week 18 matchups will be determined and announced after the end of Week 17.
