Lamar Jackson never missed an NFL debut due to injury. Will Sunday be the first?

“It’s a tough one, I think it could go down the wire.” said Greg Roman, offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that the former MVP missed a second consecutive practice Thursday, the day the Ravens expected to do fieldwork.

Jackson is battling an ankle sprain that sidelined him in Baltimore’s loss to Cleveland in the final three quarters of Week 14. Coach John Harbaugh noted later that day that their star quarterback did not suffer a high-ankle sprain and the team was planning to play Jackson against the Packers.

It’s looking like an uphill battle now, per Garafolo.

“He’s getting treatment round the clock,” Roman said. “He’s a good healer but we’ll just have to see what the doctors say.”

Wide receiver Marquis Brown (ill) showed up on the team’s injury report and missed Thursday’s practice.

The three Ravens, starting offensive linemen, Alejandro Villanueva (knee), Patrick Macari (arm) and Ben Powers (leg), also did not practice on Thursday.

The Ravens later announced that safety Chuck Clark had been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Week 7 of the NFL season began with a game between two teams desperate to get back on their way to victory. The Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos faced each other in Thursday Night Football. The home team narrowly escaped a 17–14 victory without their starter quarterback.

Baker relied on Case Keenum to lead the Browns against his former team in primetime, after Mayfield was sidelined due to a shoulder injury. Keenum did a good job of taking care of the ball and not making big mistakes, which is exactly what you need from your backup quarterback.
