Thad Matta’s family is currently one of the happiest. The Butler’s new coach is married to his wife, Barbara Matta.

Indiana is where the pair calls home. The pair met at Butler University when they were both undergraduates (where Thad later ended up getting his first coaching job). The couple has been married for 16 years and has two children. Unfortunately, the actual date of their wedding has yet to be revealed.

Barbara is associated with a number of charities, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Ronald McDonald House (Ohio State hosts the Big Wish Gala every year).

Head coaching record

Thad Matta, the all-time winningest coach in Ohio State history, was among the inductees. He coached for 13 seasons (2005-2017) and recorded 337 total wins.

His teams made nine NCAA Tournament appearances, advanced to five “Sweet Sixteens,” three “Elite Eights,” two Final Fours and one national title game.

Coaching Career:

I have no idea how Barry Collier pulled this one out, but wow, what a hire! Matta was an assistant at Butler for three years, from 1997-2000, and then coached the 00-01 season, with the Dawgs making the NCAA Tournament and winning a game against Wake Forest.

Matta is the winningest coach in Ohio State’s program history, having failed to win 20 games only once in 17 seasons, and that was in the 2016-17 season when he was suffering from some pretty serious health issues. Matta took the next few years off, before becoming an Associate AD for Indiana last season.
