Coach mark adams
Mark Adams, a West Texas native and Texas Tech graduate who has scored 554 wins as head coach, has been named the 18th men’s basketball head coach in program history, athletics director Kirby Hockett said April 6. , announced in 2021.

Basketball cheerleaders
The Texas Tech Cheer Program will include two cheer squads, a co-ed cheer squad and an all-girl cheer squad.
The All-Girl Cheer Squad is an all-women’s team that plays football games at home and away, women’s home volleyball games, and select women’s home basketball games, women’s soccer games, and baseball games. In addition, cheerleaders have the opportunity to travel to post-season soccer bowl games, Big 12 tournament basketball games, and NCAA/NIT basketball tournament games. The squad represents Texas Tech at many university and community events throughout the year.
In 2017, the all-girl squad began competing at the national level in STUNT. Stunts is a new competitive sport that removes the over-crowding aspect and focuses entirely on the technical and athletic components of cheer skills. In its first season, the STUNT team finished third in Division I.
