Groundhog Day! But what people love more than a redemption story is a real life redemption story. And there really is none better than Ted Williams, aka The Man with the Golden Voice. Back in 2011, Williams was living on the streets of Columbus, Ohio, when a video of him voicing a radio announcer, first posted by Columbus Dispatch, went viral. He became a success almost immediately, taking on gigs and serious voice over TV shows, reforming with his estranged family, and eventually founding a home of his own. But, sadly, Williams’ difficult journey was not over.

After Ted Williams suffered a stroke in 1994, Ted’s son John Henry Williams showed his father that his signature should be the correct size when autographing jerseys for sale in the shop at the Ted Williams Museum. John Henry signed Ted a jersey for practice. The result was a quadruple-signed Ted Williams jersey that was accidentally sold to a collector.

Cause of death

The list of achievements in Ted Williams’ career spanning 19 years is long. He won six batting titles and led the American League on home runs and four RBIs. In 1941, the 22-year-old Williams hit .406 for the season and included 37 home runs and 120 RBIs. He was the last hitter to hit above .400.

Williams became the first player to win the Triple Crown in 1942 with another stellar performance, leading the league with an average of .356, hitting 36 homers, and driving 137 RBIs. Incredibly, he finished second in MVP voting that season.
