Coaching staff 2021

On Tuesday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced three additions to their 2022 coaching staff under head coach Bruce Arian. They are:

Outside Linebackers Coach Bob Sanders
Defensive Quality Control Coach Joy Fitzgerald
Aggressive Quality Control Coach Jeff Kastli
In addition, John Van Dam will take over as Tampa Bay’s tight ends coach ahead of the 2022 season, after serving as the team’s assistant tight ends coach in 2021. Rick Christoffel, who served as the tight ends coach from 2019-21, will move into one. New role as Senior Offensive Assistant.

With the Jacksonville Jaguars hiring former Buccaneers inside linebackers coach Mike Caldwell as their defensive coordinator, Larry Foote is taking over for Caldwell, providing an opportunity for Sanders to coach outside linebackers. Sanders previously served as the linebackers coach on Ariane’s Arizona Cardinals staff from 2015–17.

Coach

Bruce Arians, who led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Super Bowl victory in 2021, has stepped down as head coach. The official announcement was made by the team on Wednesday night, with Todd Bowles being promoted as the new head coach.

Ariane isn’t moving away from the Books entirely. He will move to the front office as a senior football consultant. As reported by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Ariane’s move is unrelated to health issues and is looking to leave Bowles in optimal condition for success.

Arian began his time with the Books in 2019 to become their 12th coach in history. Prior to the Bux, he coached the Arizona Cardinals. Arians began coaching in 1972 and now ends his career with a regular season record of 80–48–1 (.624) and 6–3 post-season. After working for Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Indianapolis, he began to gain a reputation for his ability to develop quarterback. In 2012, and again in 2014, Ariane won the Associated Press NFL Coach of the Year award.

New Coach

Bruce Arian is stepping down as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after three seasons and moving into a front-office role with the organization, the team announced Wednesday night.

Tampa Bay defensive coordinator Todd Bowles will replace Arian as head coach. A league source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the Bucks finalized a new, five-year head-coaching contract with Boles on Wednesday.

Ariane told ESPN that he doesn’t see the change as a retirement.

“No, going to the front office,” he said in a text message. “I’m still working.”

Ariane played a key role in evaluating the draft’s prospects, and a move to the Front Office ensures it will continue. His new position will be senior football advisor.

Despite numerous health concerns throughout his career, the 69-year-old said the move was in no way motivated by his health. Ariane and the Buccaneers had been working on a succession plan for the past several weeks, and Ariane briefed the players and members of their coaching staff on the news before the team was announced.
