The Buccaneers joined the NFL in 1976 as members of AFC West. The following year, he was transferred to NFC Central, while the other 1976 expansion team, the Seattle Seahawks, switched conferences with Tampa Bay and joined AFC West. This realignment was determined by the league as part of a 1976 expansion plan, so that the two teams could play each other twice and every other NFL franchise during their first two seasons. Instead of the traditional schedule of playing each division opponent twice, the Buccaneers played each conference team once, as well as the Seahawks.

Bruce arians

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arian has stepped down from the role and will join the team’s front office, the Buccaneers announced Wednesday.

Arian – who led quarterback Tom Brady and the Buccaneers to Super Bowl victory in February 2021 – will begin a new role as senior football advisor, the team said in a statement. Brady announced earlier this month that he would return to Tampa Bay for another season after retiring briefly.
According to the statement, Arians said that he has “achieved more than I ever dreamed of” during this incredible coaching journey of 50 years. He won the 2012 AP Coach of the Year award as interim head coach for the Indianapolis Colts, then served as head coach for the Arizona Cardinals from 2013–2017. Ariane came out of retirement in 2019 to lead the Books.

Bruce Arians, who led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Super Bowl victory in 2021, has stepped down as head coach. The official announcement was made by the team on Wednesday night, with Todd Bowles being promoted as the new head coach.

Ariane isn’t moving away from the Books entirely. He will move to the front office as a senior football consultant. As reported by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Ariane’s move is unrelated to health issues and is looking to leave Bowles in optimal condition for success.

Arian began his time with the Books in 2019 to become their 12th coach in history. Prior to the Bux, he coached the Arizona Cardinals. Arians began coaching in 1972 and now ends his career with a regular season record of 80–48–1 (.624) and 6–3 post-season. After working for Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Indianapolis, he began to gain a reputation for his ability to develop quarterback. In 2012, and again in 2014, Ariane won the Associated Press NFL Coach of the Year award.
