TJ Hockenson verbally expressed his excitement after becoming a member of the Minnesota Vikings as part of a trade deadline deal. Today we will discuss about T.J. Hockenson: Highlights| Number| Trade| Injury fantasy
T.J. Hockenson: Highlights| Number| Trade| Injury fantasy
Thomas James Hockenson (born July 3, 1997) is an American football tight end for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the first round (eighth selection overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. He played college football in Iowa. As a redshirt sophomore in 2018, he was awarded the John McKay Award as the nation’s top tight end in college football.
Highlights
It hasn’t been a game with many highlights for the Detroit Lions, but T.J. Hockenson gave Ford Field fans something to cheer about.
In the final game of the third quarter against the Seattle Seahawks, Lions QB Jared Goff made an 81-yard catch and run with Hockenson that set the Lions deep into Seattle’s red zone.
Two plays later, Goff found Josh Reynolds for a touchdown pass. Hockneyson entered a 2-pt. Transforming Seattle’s lead to 38-31 at the start of the fourth quarter. Hockenson’s run after the catch was really excellent,
At that point in the game, Hawkenson had four catches for 126 yards and an earlier touchdown.
Number
According to the official roster, Hawkenson will wear an 87 when he takes the field for the Vikings. In the 80s it was the only number that was available, given that 80 and 88 have been retired and all other numbers in the 80s have already been taken by the players of the team.
I questioned what number Hawkenson would wear on social media, and some people told me he was wearing 38 when he was at the University of Iowa. With the change in the NFL’s numbers rules a few years ago, Hockenson could actually claim.
Trade
In the first blockbuster move of the day, the Lions defeated former Pro Bowl tight end T.J. Hockenson and a pair of fourth-round picks in consecutive seasons (2023, 2024 conditional) oversee division rivals Minnesota Vikings for the 2023 second-round pick and the 2024 third-round pick.
To know the details of the deal, there is only one thing left to do, which leads us to today’s question…
you tj What grade do you give? Hawkenson business?
Hkkenson was a popular name thrown around as a trade candidate for a Lions team, possibly leading to internal discussions about selling himself after a 1–6 start. However, I also think the Lions could find themselves content to see how some of their team’s depth can play out in the second half of the season.
But this does not apply to Hawkenson.
The Lions knew what they had in former No. 8. The overall pick, and it wasn’t what he was billed for: a well-rounded tight end that could make the difference in both receiving and blocking. Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com wrote in his pick-by-pick analysis in 2019 that Hockenson was “a major run blocker” and “more than enough in the pass game”. And to his credit, Hkensen has lived up to having more than enough in the pass game. However, he hasn’t shown the same prowess and promise of being a difference-maker as Run Blocker.
Injury fantasy
On track to play this week.
Detroit Lions tight end TJ Hockenson was ruled out of Wednesday’s practice with a knee injury. The Lions will face the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. He hasn’t missed a match so far this season.
Fantasy football implications for week 8
Hockenson is a central pillar of a Lions offense that has been plagued by injuries for much of this season. He has accumulated the second-most receiving yards on Detroit’s offense this year behind Josh Reynolds, adding 315 yards and three touchdowns throughout the season.
His backup at the tight end is Brock Wright, who has appeared in two games for the Lions this season, scoring five receptions for 82 yards. If Hockenson misses, Wright will likely start most of the Lions’ offensive snap at TE.
Wide receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Josh Reynolds are also suspects, and with DJ Chark on IR, Detroit’s passing offense will spread thin against the Dolphins this weekend.
What injury does T.J. Hockenson have?
On the flip side of things, the Lions received a brutal update on tight end TJ Hawkenson. Hockenson did not participate in the exercise on Wednesday. He was ruled out due to knee problem.
Is T.J. Hockenson good in fantasy?
Detroit Lions Tight End Tj Hawkenson is a strong TE1 candidate in a matchup with the seventh worst defense against fantasy tight ends. Miami has given up a ton of receiving yards and touchdowns for wideouts and tight ends, so all the notable Lions’ pass-catchers are in a good spot this week.
Why is T.J. Hockenson not playing?
TJ Hkkensen left the game with an apparent injury after an unsuccessful attempt at a handicap.
