Post match interview
Steven Gerrard made his much-hyped return to Anfield on Saturday as his Aston Villa side were beaten 1-0 by Liverpool.
Mohamed Salah’s penalty did not humiliate Villa in any way as the Reds beat him by the narrowest margin.
The result would have still bothered Gerard, however, after winning three of his first four games in charge, with a good start to his tenure as Villa boss.
The Reds legend had his usual post-match interview, which included an awkward exchange of words with former Liverpool teammate Michael Owen.
Wife
Steven Gerrard’s departure from Rangers on Thursday marked the end of a three-year period where he lived 220 miles away from his wife Alex Curran and their four children.
Curran and the couple’s four children remained in Liverpool after Gerrard was appointed Rangers manager in the summer of 2018, meaning they were separated by an eight-hour round trip.
Their move to Aston Villa, however, eliminates this long-distance part of their marriage, with Birmingham just 99 miles from Liverpool with a travel time of about two hours.
Speaking about the distance between himself and his family, Gerard previously told the Daily Mail that “it comes with its own challenges”.
Return
For the first time in his football career, Steven Gerrard kept the Liverpool crowd calm and it was exactly what he wanted. In the end, it did not count as the Aston Villa manager was unable to save his team a 1–0 loss against his old club at Anfield, but the absence of tribute songs on the former Liverpool captain would not have been lost.
Mohamed Salah’s 65th-minute penalty – awarded after being fouled by defender Tyrone Mings – all but separated Liverpool and Villa on the day the Premier League’s top three sides looked to claim three points in their race. relied on punishment. Title. Prior to this, Villa had defended stubbornly and disheartened Liverpool, displaying the same tenacity and desire that Gerrard showed during his 17-year career in the red shirt. He also impressed the crowd – and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp – with some pretty blatant time wasters, orchestrated by goalkeeper Amy Martinez.
Family
Steven Gerrard has been announced as the new Aston Villa manager and is leading a luxury lifestyle with wife Alex and four children.
The former Liverpool midfielder, 41, who retired from international football in 2014, has a lavish lifestyle and revealed how he was ‘extremely proud’ to be the new head coach of the West Midlands club.
In 2014, Steven ended his 19-year playing career. “I consider myself lucky to have experienced many great highlights during the course of my career,” he said. “I’ve had an incredible career and I am grateful for every moment of my time in Liverpool, England and the LA Galaxy. I fulfilled my childhood dream of wearing Liverpool’s famous red shirt
