Steven Bernard Wilks (born August 8, 1969) is an American football coach and former player. He last served as the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers. He served as the head coach for the Arizona Cardinals in 2018. He has also served as the defensive backs coach for the Chicago Bears and San Diego Chargers, as well as the defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers, Cleveland Browns and Missouri. He played college football at Appalachian State.

Wilks was fired as 49ers defensive coordinator on Wednesday just days after coaching him in the biggest game of his life, a Super Bowl loss to the Patrick Mahomes-Andy Reid dynasty. Wilks was once the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.
Salary
Wilks’ base salary for 2021 will be $800,000, plus a $200,000 retention bonus he will receive after the season. In the second year, his base salary increases to $1 million, during which he will receive two more retention payments of $200,000 each year, bringing the total deal to a guaranteed $2.4 million.
