Coaching career

Steve Nash set a record of 92 wins and 62 losses in his coaching career with the Brooklyn Nets. He began coaching during the 2020 season and last coached during the 2021 campaign. Nash was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018.
In a little more than two seasons, Nash led the Nets to a 94–67 record, a win percentage of .584, but with only one playoff-series win to make up for it. Nash thanked the team in a statement on Twitter on Tuesday.

“It was an amazing experience with many challenges, for which I am incredibly grateful,” he said, adding: “I wish the Nets all the success in the world and Nash will continue to root for our team as they go through this journey. Will change the season.”

Nash faced problems from the start, including injuries (Durant; Simmons), trades (Simmons in; James Harden in, then out) and Irving’s refusal to be vaccinated against the coronavirus, which meant he could be out in 2021. -22 Missed most of the season because of local regulations.

After New York City changed the rules, Irving returned in time for the post season, but the Boston Celtics overcame the Nets in the first round of the playoffs, calling off the series in front of thousands of disappointed fans in Brooklyn.

Steve Nash got parole.

That’s the easiest way to say it. Some would say fired, and the official term used on Tuesday was that Nash and the Brooklyn Nets “agreed to participate,” which is a popular phrase these days when a coach leaves a team.

But the reality is this: He is free.

Whatever happens next in Kyrie Irving’s never-ending string of developments won’t take Nash’s time. The earth may be flat. Alex Jones may be right about the conspiracy theories. Links to anti-Semitic movies can be shared with millions of followers. The merits of vaccines can be debated.
No longer a Nash problem.

It was never going to work in Brooklyn, and there were signs long before Nash’s first game. Irving made a podcast appearance in the fall of 2020, while bubble season — which Irving raided against and would not be involved in — was still underway at Walt Disney World. On that podcast, Irving offered that the Nets didn’t really need a head coach and that it could be “a collaborative effort” between him, Kevin Durant, and others.

Five days after the birth of their third child in 2011, Steve Nash divorced Alejandra Amarilla because the infant was of mixed race, although Nash was white. Another example of how such incidents affect the team is Jason Richardson, a teammate suspected of having an affair with Nash’s wife. When Richardson traded in Orlando, Nash released a statement in which he said it was a bitter occasion for him and his wife as they were in the process of divorce. The Sons had to let Richardson go because it caused a significant disruption in the dressing room.

While playing for the Dallas Mavericks in 2001, Canadian basketball player Steve Nash met Alejandra Amarilla, a Paraguayan filmmaker, in Manhattan. After three years of dating, the couple had twin daughters, Lola and Bella. The pair were married a year later in June 2005, and they seem to be happily ever after. Before the announcement of his third pregnancy, Steve was in Arizona playing for the Phoenix Suns, and it seemed like nothing could make him happy.
