Stetson Fleming Bennett IV (born October 28, 1998) is an American football quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs. In eighth grade, Bennett’s family moved again to nearby Blackshear, Georgia, in Pierce County, where he now considers home. It was in Blackshear that Bennett played high school football.

Mom:

Stetson Bennett’s mom said she was feeling a “lifetime of emotions” Monday night after her son led Georgia to their first national championship in more than 40 years.

Reflecting on the moment, Denise Bennett told 11Alive’s Maria Martin that it was “too much” to try and process as a lifelong Bulldogs fan that it was her own son who ended the long wait for a national championship.

Draft Stock:

The 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship will once again feature Alabama and Georgia. It’s the second time in three years these two have played each other in a national title game—Alabama came from behind and defeated Georgia 26-23 in the 2018 CFP National Championship.

Both of these teams feature big-name players who will be talked about frequently in the lead-up to April’s NFL draft.

Alabama running back Brian Robinson, Jr. had a season-best outing in the semifinal against Cincinnati. He finished the day with a season-high 2014 yards, and averaged 7.5 per carry. In fact, Robinson’s performance was an Alabama bowl game record.

It was also the third-most rushing yards in a CFP game. The fact that he’d been dealing with a leg injury toward the end of the regular season made his big day all the more impressive.

Robinson backed up former first-round draft pick Najee Harris for most of his career. He’s accounted for 1,275 yards and 14 touchdowns this year, and he might be getting hot at just the right time.

Year:

His next stop — Bennett has one more COVID-19 year of eligibility left if he chooses in 2022 — might be in football, but it probably won’t be coming out of the first round.

Bennett has one more year of eligibility left if he wishes to return to Georgia. Based on Monday’s result, he’ll be welcomed back between the hedges with open arms if he opts for one more season in Athens. More College Football Coverage: Inside the History of Smart, Saban and a Lopsided Series.

Parents:

Stetson Bennett IV is the son of Denise and Stetson Bennett III.

Stetson Bennett IV doesn’t quit. He didn’t quit as a high-schooler when he traveled to camp after camp wearing a United States Postal Service hat simply to get noticed. He didn’t quit as a freshman walk-on when he played for his dream school despite being buried down the depth chart.

Nfl Prospect:

Bennett got his “Mailman” nickname from his high school camp days, where he wore the iconic U.S. Postal Service hat while competing on the Elite 11 camp circuit. It was hard to miss that hat, but he’s turned a nickname into a way of life, and it’s the reason why he’s perfect for Georgia.

To be a mailman, you have to embrace the grind. Doing the same thing over and over again can get repetitive and old quickly, but people are relying on you. For Bennett, being the “Mailman” for Georgia football got him to where he is today.
