Files for divorce
While the two have yet to publicly address the details of their divorce, TMZ reports that Sonya is the one who initially filed the paperwork. She filed for divorce on June 14 in North Carolina, where she cited Dale’s “marital misconduct” as the reason for their unfortunate separation.
After Sonya accused Dale of “marital misconduct,” he responded with allegations of his own (via TMZ). Dell filed a court filing alleging that Sonya committed “acts of illegal sexual misconduct” during their marriage. He also accused him of lying about the alleged acts.
Rookie year
There were no such post-season heroics in his junior season, but his average of 28.6 points per game led the nation, and he was named a unanimous First Team All-American. He then entered the 2009 NBA Draft, in which he was selected by the Warriors with the seventh overall pick.
Curry made an immediate impact with the Warriors, becoming the team’s starting point guard and averaging 17.5 points per game in his first season. A series of ankle sprains caused Curry to play just 26 games in the 2011–12 season, and he underwent off-season ligament surgery. He then signed a modest four-year, $44 million contract extension, which allowed Golden State to surround their budding star with other talented players. Curry led the league in three-pointers (272) made in 2012–13. The following season he repeated that feat (with 261) and earned his first All-Star selection. In 2014–15 he scored a then-record 286 three-pointers, while leading the Warriors to an NBA-best 67–15 record and was named the league’s Most Valuable Player (MVP). In the following postseason, Curry led the Warriors to the franchise’s first title in 40 years over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Dance
Steph Curry made his Western Conference Finals debut against the Dallas Mavericks cold.
The two-time Most Valuable Player finished the first quarter with four points on a 1-of-5 shooting from the floor and 0-of-4 from the 3-point line. Curry’s uncharacteristic start extended into the second quarter as well. Going into the locker room at halftime, Curry had 12 points on shooting 4-of-10 from the field and 1-of-6 from beyond the arc.
However, it does not take much time for the curry to heat up. The eight-time All-Star was out firing in the second half. Curry buried a pair of Haymaker 3-pointers in the first three minutes of the third quarter. Curry’s second 3 extended Golden State’s lead to 17 points and forced the Mavericks to call a timeout.
Draft class
The 2009 NBA Draft was a dark orbit with many future MVPs and many players who would likely go on to the Hall of Fame.
But the draft square turned out to be Stephen Curry despite being passed six times, including a team that had drafted two point guards named Curry.
While it’s not uncommon for an all-time great to be overtaken by the first pick in the NBA draft, it’s strange to see a talent like Curry not drafted until six other players come off the board.
Library
CBS San Francisco reported that on Wednesday, the couple announced plans to build 150 “Little Town Libraries” around Oakland in an effort to encourage book sharing and early childhood literacy in the community.
“We want to encourage children to read by making it accessible, fun and inspiring,” Stephen and Ayesha Curry said in a statement.
“We hope these free, book-sharing libraries will help sow the seeds needed to continue the culture of literacy for the next generation in Oakland.”
