Stephen Curry is the new 3-point king of the NBA.

The Golden State Warriors star guard became the all-time leader in 3-pointers in a 105-96 win over the New York Knicks on Tuesday night, knocking down the 2,974th of his career pass Hall of Famer Ray Allen.

The record-breaking shot came in the first quarter with a time of 7 minutes, 33 seconds as Curry pulled 28 feet from the right wing through a pass from Andrew Wiggins. The Warriors fouled quickly and timed out so that Curry could enjoy the moment.

“It was a beautiful end to last week,” Curry said after the game. “The buildup to getting this number, it was a special atmosphere. I knew how iconic this place was – I can’t say it enough, I appreciate the way the fans embraced the moment.” With me and let me get lost in it. I could feel it. Once I took the shot on the wing, it felt good, it felt good – it felt like we were at home.”

Warriors star Stephen Curry surpasses Ray Allen as the NBA’s all-time 3-point leader in the Golden State Warriors’ victory over the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, December 14.

Curry just shy of the record in Monday’s win over the Indiana Pacers, collecting 26 points on 5-for-15 shooting from 3-point range. That result set the table for an end to the storybook, as Curry broke the record in The Mecca of Basketball in front of both previous record-holders, Allen and Reggie Miller.

Steve Kerr scanned the box score and alerted the room for figures to emerge from the page showing Stephen Curry’s influence on the game.

After Curry became the NBA’s all-time leader in career 3-pointers on Tuesday in a 105-96 win over the Knicks at Madison Square Garden, Kerr counted combined efforts from long distance for both teams.

“82 3-pointers were taken tonight,” he said. “So, one night when he broke the record, the sum of 3-point efforts from both teams was a testament to Steph’s impact on the league. It’s a different game [now], obviously. But Steph made it a different game.” Gave.

Fact.

Curry nailed a pair of first-quarter triples to overtake Ray Allen to top the NBA’s all-time 3-pointers list and finish the game with five 3s and a team-high 22 points . The Warriors guard broke the record over the course of 789 games – 511 fewer than Allen (1,300) to reach this milestone.

Curry has said that once he breaks the record, everything else will be “just about how far you can push it.”

Well, Curry now needs to knock off just 23 more 3-pointers to reach 3,000 for his career, a feat no player in NBA history has reached.
