The stage is set for the 2022 State of Origin decider at Suncorp Stadium. After the first two clashes in Sydney and Perth, the series returns as the favorite NSW Blues bid in Brisbane to win only their third series decider at the venue in 13 tries against the Queensland Maroons.
Team list
Cameron Munster and Murray Taulagi (COVID-19) have been dealt a major blow to Queensland prospects, with Tom Dearden and Corey Oates in their respective places.
Kalyan Ponga (concussion) is named to play after having faced an innings at Perth.
Felice Kaufucci is currently in the US for personal reasons and has been ruled out of the decider. Jeremiah Nanai will move to the starting side and Tom Gilbert will make his Origin debut from the bench.
Squad
The big blow for NSW with star prop Payne Haas (ankle/shoulder) expected out of the decider.
Jordan McLean (hamstring) was slated to replace him on the front line for his original debut, but has since been dropped. Jacob Saffiti is likely to come in at 17 and play his first game for the Blues.
Latrell returned from injury in Round 16 for Mitchell Rabbitoh, but surprisingly found himself out of contention for the original decider.
Jack Whitten (Covid) was ruled out of Game II, but has been cleared to return. However, Brad Fittler will remain at the center with Stephen Crichton and Wighton has been named in the expanded squad.
