The first T20I of Sri Lanka’s imminent tour to the West Indies will start at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua less than 12 hours from now. Known for hosting the Stanford Super Series more than a decade ago, the aforementioned venue will make its debut internationally with this series.
T20 Match
The three-match T20I series will also resume international cricket in the West Indies, as they hosted an international match at home, which preceded the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the 11 T20Is played so far between the West Indies and Sri Lanka, the West Indies have won five compared to six Sri Lankan wins. Having said that, the hosts would like to believe from the fact that the last four T20Is between these two have been won by them.
T20 Series
Significantly, this is the first time the West Indies is hosting a bilateral T20I series with Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka’s solitary T20 came against the West Indies in the West Indies during the group stage of the ICC World Twenty20 2010.
Telecast Channel in India and West Indies
As has happened during the ongoing international summer season in New Zealand, Sri Lanka’s West Indies tour will also not be available on television channels in India.
However, the streaming platform Fan Code will be streaming the three-match T20I series at a nominal cost. Unlike the New Zealand tour of West Indies and Pakistan last year, fans no longer have the option to purchase passes for only the first T20I. Fans wishing to purchase passes for the entire T20I series have to pay.
Date and Start Time of Antigua T20I
Due to the huge time gap, the first T20I between West Indies and Sri Lanka will start on different dates in India and West Indies. While it will be a morning competition (03:30 AM) on 4 March in India, it will be an evening competition (06:00 PM) on 3 March in the West Indies.
