Father
Red Bull Racing’s latest catch, Sergio Perez has proved to be a successful match for Max Verstappen. Along with his decade-long career, a lot of changes have happened for Perez. Having been part of four teams before joining Red Bull, there has been only one entity that has remained stable throughout – Perez’s father.
Ever since Perez sat behind the wheel at six, to his most recent achievement of making history in Mexico, Antonio PĆ©rez Garibe has been an unwavering pillar of support. Filled with positivity and a trademark upbeat smile, Garibbe has been instrumental in pushing Perez to his best form.
Wins
(CNN) Sergio Perez produced a spectacular drive as Red Bull at a dramatic Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday.
The Mexican driver started the third race, but overtook the leaders during an action-packed race.
While Perez won the game’s showpiece for the first time, his teammate Max Verstappen finished third with Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz in second.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc started on pole, but finished his home race in fourth place after his team’s pit stop strategy allowed Red Bull to overtake the Monegasque driver.
That means Verstappen extends his lead over Leclerc at the top of the drivers’ championship.
Wife
Sergio PĆ©rez married Carola Martinez, a 24-year-old socialite from Guadalajara. The couple exchanged vows through a ceremony in Guadalajara, Jalisco in Mexico on June 3, 2018. Salary
Most F1 drivers make millions of dollars every season as they travel around the world to entertain a huge fanbase. For the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, their salaries are in the tens of millions – ahead of the streets at the back of the grid.
Currently, seven-time world champion Hamilton is the highest-paid driver in F1, with an estimated salary of $40 million a year, although Verstappen is now just five million behind after signing a bumper new deal through 2028. With the bonus, the Dutchman’s annual earnings can increase to $50 million.
Compared to the silly 2020 season, which spawned many changes, only a few drivers have been able to make the move this winter. As such, the fluctuation between last year’s and this year’s salary is relatively less.
Why is called checo
Over the past few years, Red Bull has struggled to find a competitive enough driver to fill its second seat.
Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon failed to make their mark on the Red Bull seat, consistently outperformed by Max Verstappen.
This season, Sergio “Checo” Perez, who has previously raced for Sauber, McLaren, Force India and Racing Point, joins Red Bull as they attempt to oust Mercedes from the top of the constructors’ championship.
