Serena Jameka Williams is an American retired professional tennis player. She was ranked world No. 1 in singles by the Women’s Tennis Association for 319 weeks, including a joint-record 186 consecutive weeks, and finished as the year-end No. 1 five times.

Serena Williams father, Richard Williams suffered a serious stroke a few years back. Since then he has had a series of health issues. He is still alive but he does not coach anymore.
He started teaching his daughters tennis when they were just four and a half years old. He has drawn up an 85-page plan and started getting them the coaching they needed.
He quickly got them into tennis tournaments. In 1995 he started coaching them himself and pulled them out of the tennis academy. Serena then went on to win the US Open in 1999, and Venus won the Wimbledon title in 2000.

Serena Williams’ quarter-century professional tennis career came to end with a 7-5, 6-7 (4), 6-1 loss to Ajla Tomljanovic in the third round of the US Open.
Williams’ legacy has made an impact on and off the court, and her 27 years on tour have proven the icon to be one of the all-time greatest athletes in the history of any sport – male or female.
It’s truly been fun to watch Serena not only change the sport of tennis, but more importantly, how she’s helped empower the next generation. Her tennis accomplishments speak for themselves, but one of the things I admire about her is she simply doesn’t quit. On or off the court.
