Serena Williams’ campaign at the US Open 2022 came to an end on Saturday as she lost 5-7, 7-6(4), 1-6 to Ajla Tomljanovic of Australia in her third match of the women’s singles event. After the match, Serena fought her emotions and cried to thank her parents and older sister Venus Williams for their support. On the court she said, “Oh my god, thank you so much! You guys were amazing today. I tried but Ajla played a little better. Thanks, daddy. I know you’re watching. Thanks, mom. Oh my god.” I just thank everyone who has been here for so many years, decades, oh my god, literally decades. But it all started with my parents, and they deserve everything. So I’m really grateful to them Am. “

“Oh my god, these are happy tears! I guess, I don’t know. And I wouldn’t be Serena. If [there] weren’t Venus, thank you, Venus! That’s the only reason Serena Williams ever existed”, she continued couple.

Serena Williams has crashed out of the US Open in what could be the final singles campaign of her career.

The 40-year-old recently announced her plans to retire, declaring that she is “getting away from tennis” and wants to “develop her family”.

Williams advanced to the third round behind second-seeded Annette Kontaveit, but she was knocked out on Friday night by defeating 46th-ranked Ajla Tomljanovic 7-5, 6-7(4), 6-1.

Tomljanovic later said: “I’m really sorry because I love Serena as much as you guys do.

“What he has done for the game of tennis is incredible.

“I never thought I’d get a chance to play with him in his last match when I was a kid watching all those finals.”
