Williams’s age is now 5 years old and has always been honest about both her love for her daughter and her struggles with pregnancy and motherhood. The tennis star almost died during Olympia’s birth – Williams’ heart rate dropped during labor, so she had to have an emergency caesarean section.
When Olympia was 11 months old, Williams shared her mother’s feelings of guilt on Instagram. “I felt like I wasn’t a good mom,” she wrote. “It’s totally normal to feel like I’m not doing enough for my kid. We’ve all been there. I work out a lot, I train, and I’m trying to be the best athlete I can be. However, it means that although I’ve been with him every day of my life, I’m not quite as I want to be.”
In an interview with Time, Williams revealed that motherhood was “hard,” saying, “Some days, I cry. I’m really sad. I’ve had a meltdown.” She also talked about her struggle with postpartum depression. “Sometimes she just wants mom, she doesn’t want anyone else. I still have to learn the balance of being there for her and being there for me.”
That said, Williams enjoys spending time with her daughter. “The last 2 years have been my biggest achievement,” she wrote in an Instagram caption on Olympia’s second birthday in 2019.

The perfect pair! Serena Williams welcomed her and Alexis Ohanian’s daughter Olympia in September 2017 — and the little one is her mini-me. Olympia is 5 years old.
While she loves sharing her moments with the toddler, the professional tennis player wrote via Instagram in February 2020 that “working and being a mom is not easy.”
The athlete explained at the time: “I often get tired, stressed out, and then I go to play a professional tennis match. We keep going. I take so much pride and inspiration from the women who do it day in and day out.” It does. I’m proud to be this kid’s mama @olympiaohanian.”

The athletic apparel designer said that her “heroes have changed” since parents, explaining, “My heroes are mothers because women are superheroes. Having a baby and then going to work two or three weeks later Or have to work nine to five. … I’m lucky I didn’t have to do that.”
