Sean Michael Maurice Taylor was an American football free safety for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League. He was selected by the Redskins as the fifth overall pick of the 2004 NFL Draft where he played for four seasons until his murder in 2007.

Taylor was shot by burglars in a home invasion at his Miami home on Nov. 26, 2007, and died the following day at the age of 24. Taylor was taking the first steps in a career destined for the Pro Football Hall of Fame when his life was taken from him.

The Sean Taylor Memorial Trust Fund has been fully endorsed by Jackie Garcia, mother of Sean’s daughter, and will guarantee the support and education of their only dependant. The team and owner Daniel M. Snyder have dedicated a minimum of $500,000 to the fund.
