Motorcycle accident

Sean Strickland: Motorcycle accident| Jack hermansson| Fight

Sean Strickland had a motorcycle accident in December of 2018. Strickland suffered multiple injuries in the incident, leaving him unconscious for several hours. Additionally, the UFC fighter required knee surgery as a result. This was followed by a long layoff as he recovered from the losses he had inflicted.

Speaking to MMA Fighting ahead of his return fight in October 2020, Strickland recalled the incident. ‘Tarzan’ was on his way home after a sparring session and was riding his motorcycle at about 45 mph.

Unfortunately, he was stopped by a van. The collision rendered Strickland unconscious for several hours. When he woke up he found himself surrounded by doctors and a police officer.

Hermanson (22-7 MMA, 9-5 UFC) dropped split decision to Sean Strickland (25-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC) in the main event of UFC Fight Night 200 at UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday. They have now alternated wins and losses for six fights and have not been able to build on a decision victory over Edman Shahbazyan since May 2021. Strickland’s win was his sixth straight in the middleweight division.

And while the official result may have meant some fighting was close, a score of 48–47 for Strickland got Hermanson as opposed to two 49–46. None of the media outlets tracked by MMDecisions.com battled Hermanson’s side. Nearly half fought 50-45 for Strickland, including the MMA junkie.

Fight

Strickland defeated Jack Hermanson via split decision (49-46, 47-48, 49-46) in the main event of UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas on Saturday. Strickland used his jaw to keep Hermanson away from the whole fight. Hermanson did not succeed in any of the takedown attempts and Strickland was clearly the better tactical striker, though not the offensive.

“I was going to be a pansy,” Strickland said in his postfight interview. “I should have thrown in the pocket like I did at the end. Maybe, I let the pressure get on me. Again, sorry. I was out there fighting like—- Sorry. . .. Lesson learned. Won’t happen again.”

Coming to ESPN, Hermanson was ranked No. 8 in the world at middleweight and Strickland at No. 10. Strickland said he would fight whatever he wanted ahead of the UFC, but would prefer a title shot. UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya defends the belt against former champion Robert Whitaker at UFC 271 next week. Strickland said he would love to compete against the winner.

“I’m a company man, I’ll fight what you put before me,” Strickland said. “But if he has a belt, I’ll be very happy.”

Cross Strickland has been criticized for the insensitive comments she’s made over the past few months, in addition to the many in-gym sparring incidents that have surfaced on social media. In August, Strickland said that he “would love nothing more than to kill someone in the ring” and that it would make him “super happy”. Strickland tweeted in December that he thought he was a “failure as a man” if he had a gay son.
