As South Africa beat New Zealand 12-11 in Paris on Saturday, All Black captain Sam Cane said he will have to live with the pain of being eliminated in the Rugby World Cup final for the rest of his life.

In the 28th minute, Kane was shown a yellow card for a high tackle on South Africa’s Jesse Kriel. The card was undergoing review in the bunker system, and was then upgraded to red. This decision meant that the All Blacks would have to play the final 52 minutes of a World Cup final with 14 men, with Cane becoming the first player in men’s World Cup history to be ruled out of a final.

“At the time, I didn’t even know,” Kane said. “His withdrawal surprised me. But, look, we’ve been in this tournament for two months, and anything can happen to the head.

“I’m not here to discuss whether it was right or wrong. It can’t be changed. Unfortunately it’s something I’ll have to live with forever.”

Tackle

The All Black number 7 was given a yellow card when the TMO reviewed the tackle. And after a few minutes, referee Wayne Barnes upgraded the challenge to a red card.

Kane became frustrated as he realized he would never return to the field and dropped his head into his hands. He became the first player to receive a red card in a Rugby World Cup final.

The 31-year-old became the first player to be handed a finals card since fellow All Blacks star Ben Smith in 2015. The All Blacks also received two yellow cards, the first time that two cards had been given in the first half.

Wife

His wife name is Harriet Allen. The journey begins. Rugby legend Sam Cane and wife Harriet began the construction process by visiting their beautiful section.

Red card

Sam Cane admitted the heartbreak of his costly red card in his side’s one-point defeat to South Africa in the World Cup final was something “I will remember forever”.

The New Zealand captain was sent off through the bunker review system for a high tackle on Jesse Kriel half an hour before South Africa’s 12–11 victory. South Africa led 9–3 at the time and had extended their lead to nine points, but the 14-man All Blacks rallied after the break and scored the only try of the match through Beauden Barrett, but came up short. .
