Vaccine
ESPN, which is owned by Disney and spends billions in sports rights, is one of those companies making employees get the shot. During an appearance on “Uncut with Jay Cutler” podcast, one ESPN personality vented her frustration on the mandate. “I work for a company that mandates it and I had until September 30th to get it done or I’m out,” anchor Sage Steele told Cutler, a former NFL quarterback.
Steele said she is vaccinated but didn’t want to do it. “I respect everyone’s decision, I really do, but to mandate it is sick and it’s scary to me in many ways,” Steele said. “I just, I’m not surprised it got to this point, especially with Disney, I mean a global company like that.”
ESPN
ESPN anchor Sage Steele is picking up lots of heat for recents comments about former President Barack Obama that dip into the controversial waters on race, ethnicity and identity.
Steele appeared on the podcast Uncut with Jay Cutler, which is hosted by the former NFL player, where she complained about being forced to take the coronavirus vaccine, which was mandated by her employer, ESPN. Steele called the mandate “sick” and “scary.” As much of a hot button issue as that may be, it was her choice words about Obama and his father, who died nearly four decades ago, that had people talking.
Family
Steele has two brothers, Courtney and Chad, who is the senior vice president of media relations for the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens. Steele married Jonathan Bailey on October 30, 1999, and divorced in 2019. The couple has three children. In March 2021, Steele put her home in Avon, CT on the market for $1.6 million.
Father
Steele is the daughter of Gary & Mona (O’Neil) Steele. Mona is of Irish and Italian descent, Gary is African-American, and was the first to play varsity football at West Point during the mid-1960s. Steele was inducted into the Army Sports Hall of Fame in 2013 for his standout career on the Black Knights football and track & field teams.
