Taigo from Accra, Ghana has accumulated various championships since his professional debut in 2004, including the IBF International, WBA International and WBO Africa Lightweight titles. The 32-year-old is currently ranked tenth by the WBC and has risen up the ranks of the division since his debut in American boxing in 2013 with Gerardo Robles’ ninth-round stoppage.

His last outing was on November 27, 2020, when Tago met former WBO NABO Champion Mason Maynard in a 10-round lightweight competition, defeating Maynard by majority decision.

“I have always wanted to fight against Ryan Garcia. To be the main event in such an important fight is like a dream come true for me,” said Tago.
