Vs fortuna results

Despite both fighters normally campaigning at a lighter weight, the fight was fought on a super lightweight at the request of the Fortuna camp. After the fight, Garcia clarified that he was so comfortable on the weight that he would not return to the lightweight division.

Even with what he claims is a permanent step up in weight, Garcia is focused on a massive battle with one of Lightweight’s other young stars in Gervonta “Tank” Davis for his next outing.

“100 percent, I felt better,” Garcia said. “I’m not going to go back to 135 for nothing, but I’ll fight ‘Tanks’ next. If ‘Tanks’ wants it at 140. Hey, I’m going to record all the talks so you guys don’t make headlines Saying I’m ducking. If he wants it, get it. … That will give me the respect I deserve. I’m never afraid. I’ve said that I have a competitive spirit. You are going to see that come out when I fight tank and whoop his ass.”

Garcia and Davis have long talked about a potential fight, sharing the lightweight division with other young stars like Devin Haney and Teofimo López, another fighter who recently moved to the 140-pound division.

Calls out tank

He is also ready for the big game. Fortuna was a solid opponent, a veteran former beltholder and The Ring’s No. 9-rated lightweight at 130 pounds, but the Dominican isn’t a star. There are very few true stars in boxing. Devin Haney, the undisputed lightweight champion who was in the arena, isn’t even a star. Despite holding all the belts, Garcia doesn’t notice Honey or bother to call her out after the fight.

Gervonta “Tank” Davis, The Ring’s number 4-rated lightweight, is a star. Like Garcia, he butts seats wherever he fights. He drives the needle. Although Garcia is the ring’s number 5-rated lightweight, the dream matchup likely won’t be in the 135-pound division.

“100% I felt better (at 140 pounds), I’m not going back to 135 for nothing, but I want the next tank,” Garcia said during his post fight interview. “I’m never afraid, I have a competitive spirit. You’re going to see that when I fight tanks.

How much did make

Garcia is currently under contract with Golden Boy Promotions, which in 2019 said it was one of the most lucrative contracts in history for a boxing prospect like him.

Oscar De La Hoya revealed that he wanted to help Ryan sign an unprecedented $700 million contract in the future, as he thought he could turn into “the biggest boxing star ever.”
