Trade
The Toronto Maple Leafs have brought forward Nick Ritchie and traded Arizona Coyotes forward Ryan Jingel and a conditional pick for defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin.
The pick the Leafs are sending will either be their third round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft or their second round pick in 2025.
Richie, 26, signed with Toronto over the summer. He scored nine points in the 33 matches he played.
In January, Richie was placed on remission. He was able to clean up and was then assigned to Toronto’s taxi squad. However, following the elimination of the taxi squad in the NHL after the All-Star break, he was assigned to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.
With Richie and his $2.5 million cap playing in the minors, there was speculation that he would be traded.
