Record on thursday night football
Russell Wilson’s 9–1 record on Thursday Night Football is the best record (by winning percentage) of any quarterback since 2000.
Wilson has been dominating, winning his last nine on Thursday night football, his lone loss in his rookie season at Candlestick Park by a 13-6 scoreline for the 49ers. He has thrown 20 touchdowns in only 4 interceptions in those 10 games. The Seahawks are 7–1 under Wilson’s command against divisional opponents in Thursday Night Football, including a 2–0 record against the Rams. The Seahawks claimed the division title in 2016 by defeating the Rams 24–3 on TNF, and won 30–29 at home thanks to Greg Zürlein, who nearly missed a field goal just in time. Notably, the Seahawks wore their full action green uniforms on both occasions, as they were both home games. These two matchups with the Rams represent the Seahawks 2 out of 4 victories in the full action green (they are undefeated in the garish jersey).
All of this is to say that these two figures alone guarantee a victory for the Seahawks this week. Might not even watch the game!
Did get hurt
The veteran signal-caller played a drive after the injury, but then Seattle coach Pete Carroll replaced him with fourth-placed backup Geno Smith.
“He wasn’t able to catch the football the way he needed to throw it, because we were going to throw the ball and we had to throw it all over the place,” Carroll said. “We didn’t know what he would be able to do… If he (returned) could do it, he would be able to do it.” Carroll said the finger was a “pretty darn pain”.
Smith led Seattle on a touchdown drive to reduce the team’s deficit to 16–14. Los Angeles responded with a touchdown to extend their lead to 23–14. Smith then led another scoring drive, this time with a field goal, to make it 23–17, with only 2 minutes remaining.

Smith withdrew the ball less than a minute later but threw an interception on the first play. Los Angeles responded with a field goal that made the final gap 26–17. Smith finished with a 10-of-17 passing, 131 yards, a touchdown and an INT.

Wilson, 32, never missed an NFL game in his career. In 2020, he posted his ninth consecutive season at the start of 16. He started the Seahawks’ first five games this year.

Smith, 31, has been Wilson’s backup since 2019 but had attempted just five passes in 2020 before Thursday. He has early experience with the Jets, who drafted him in the second round from West Virginia in 2013. He started 29 games in his first two seasons for New York before being replaced by Ryan Fitzpatrick.
He started another game for the Jets in 2016 and then famously once again for the Giants in 2017 when the team started Eli Manning’s streak of consecutive regular season runs of 210.
