Football on Thursday night didn’t go as planned for the Seattle Seahawks, who fell to the division of rival Los Angeles Rams. Not only was it the first time the Hawks lost while wearing Action Green, Pete Carroll fell 3-7 against Sean McVay and, most importantly, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson was forced to leave the game with an injury.
Carroll provided an update on Wilson and the injury after the game, and it’s not great news.
While a sprain may not seem so bad at first, the simple fact of the matter is that a really bad sprain in medical terminology means a tear. This would be in line with the thinking of several online medical personalities, who, based on observation of broadcast footage, said that Wilson likely had some sort of tear in his finger.

Russell Wilson’s middle finger was amputated in an awkward playoff with Los Angeles Rams star Aaron Donald on Thursday night.
While the Seattle Seahawks quarterback briefly returned to the game, Wilson was sidelined in the fourth quarter of a 26–17 loss in favor of backup Geno Smith. Their finger injury could be something that persists for weeks.
Wilson was trying to throw a pass in the third quarter of his “Thursday Night Football” matchup with the Rams, and barely got the pass before Donald’s swinging right hand blocked it.

The Seahawks now have more to worry about than their historically weak defense and an early reduction in the NFC West standings. Russell Wilson’s health has also been a matter of concern at various times over the past decade.
Wilson suffered a 26-17 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night after injuring the middle finger of his throwing hand in the third quarter. He returned for a series, but was replaced by Geno Smith, who led a touchdown drive to give hope to Seattle (2–3), but then threw an interception for all but the Rams (4). -1) sealed the victory.
Speaking after the game, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll called the injury “a badly sprained finger” and said it was too early to make a timetable on Wilson’s return. Carroll said he doesn’t know whether Wilson will need surgery.
