As a consequence, Gobert was suspended by the Timberwolves for Tuesday’s play-in game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Additionally, Jaden McDaniels, the team’s power forward, sustained a hand injury after punching a wall in the arena tunnel during Sunday’s game against New Orleans.
If the Timberwolves, who are seeded eighth, lose to the Lakers, who are seeded seventh, on Tuesday, they will have another chance to advance to the playoffs by playing the winner of the New Orleans-Oklahoma City play-in game on Friday. However, if they win on Tuesday, they will progress to the first-round playoff series.
Gobert, who will not be traveling with the team to Los Angeles, issued a public apology and had a private discussion with Anderson about the incident. Nevertheless, the organization decided to suspend Gobert for the crucial game against the Lakers.

During a timeout in a Timberwolves game, Anderson and Gobert engaged in a heated argument on the sidelines. The argument escalated, and Gobert struck Anderson in the chest with a punch.
Following the altercation between Gobert and Anderson during the Timberwolves game, Gobert was separated from Anderson and left for the locker room. The Timberwolves then sent Gobert home for the rest of the game due to the physical altercation, which occurred during the second quarter when the team was trailing the Pelicans.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Anderson and Gobert had a disagreement on the court during a timeout, where Anderson told Gobert to block some shots and Gobert responded by telling Anderson to grab a rebound. Anderson reportedly responded by telling Gobert to “shut the f— up, b—,” which prompted Gobert to swing at him.
Shams Charania of The Athletic added that the argument continued into the locker room at halftime, with Anderson challenging Gobert by saying, “I’ll knock your a— out.”
After the game, veteran player Mike Conley stated that Gobert had already apologized to the team via text message.
