Roxanne Modafari is an American female bantamweight fighter currently signed to the UFC. She has a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as well as a brown belt in Judo and currently trains at Syndicate MMA in Las Vegas, NV. She is a true veteran of women’s MMA and has fought for several early promotions, including SmackGirl, Hookenshoot, IFC, Ring of Combat, Shooto, Bodogfight, K-Grace, Fatal Femmes Fighting, Strikeforce, KOTC, Moosin, WMMA Fights have been offered. Strikeforce, Cage Warriors and Jewels. She goes on to win over several prominent female fighters, including Keiko Tamai, Jennifer Howe (twice, marking Jennifer’s only defeat in her seven-year career), Marlos Koenen, Vanessa Porto, and Tara Larosa. Roxanne holds the IFC and ISKA women’s middleweight titles, the FFF Lightweight Championship, and won the K-GRACE women’s openweight eight-woman, one-night tournament. Modafari began training in various martial arts in high school, including Tae Kwon Do, Kenpo Karate and Judo, where he earned a brown belt. She said of her beginnings in the martial arts that “I thought I was doing karate like a movie star, but then in judo I learned what it was like to fly.” When he attended college at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, he trained briefly at the Royce Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association. She trained at a variety of gyms throughout New England during her college career, including Brazilian top team affiliate Jim and Saitodong Maui Thai.

“The Happy Warrior” lost a hard-fought split decision to top prospect Casey O’Neill in his retirement battles, 29-28, 28-29 and 28-29, on the judges’ scorecard.
The women’s flyweight match was part of the UFC 271 preliminary card at Toyota Center and was broadcast on ESPN prior to the night’s pay-per-view main card.
Modaferi leaves the game with her head held high despite the defeat.
“I’m fine with that last fight,” Modaferi said in his post-fight interview. “I gave it my all. It’s time to pass the torch to the next generation. I’m proud of myself. Even if you don’t win every time, you can still have an amazing time.” It has been a wonderful life journey.”
