Parade
For millions of people around the world, the Rose Parade is an iconic New Year’s Day tradition.
The Rose Parade travels 5 miles down Colorado Blvd. And there are four types of entries: flower-decorated floats entered by a participating corporation, non-profit organization or municipality, equestrian units, bands and tournament entries. The participants of the Rose Parade have a long history with the Tournament of Roses and keep the traditions alive.
First, the Tournament of Roses welcomed 3,000 spectators to its first parade, filled with beautiful, horse-drawn carriages covered with flowers. More than a century later, the parade floats are a marvel of state-of-the-art technology, all rested under flowers and all other natural materials.More than 80,000 hours of combined service are provided each year by the 935 volunteer members of the Tournament of Roses Association. Nicknamed the “White Suits” because of the distinctive white suit worn by each volunteer, these community-spirited men and women give up their evenings, weekends and holidays to ensure the success of the Rose Parade® and the Rose Bowl Game.

Rose Bowl History
The Rose Bowl has been played annually since 1916, although the first was played in 1902. It was originally known as the Tournament East-West football game. This changed in 1923, when it became the Rose Bowl.
Ohio State has an 8-7 record of 16 appearances in the Rose Bowl – the third most appearances of any team. The Buckeyes beat Washington 28-23 in their most recent appearance at the 2019 Rose Bowl.
This will be Utah’s first Rose Bowl appearance.
Who plays in the
The 2021 Cotton Bowl will feature SEC champion, No. 11 Utah, against Big Ten East Division co-champion No. 6 Ohio State.
Much has already been written about the nature of Ohio State’s crime. The Buckeyes boast three of the country’s top receivers, Jackson Smith-Njigba, Chris Olev and Garrett Wilson, all of whom present great challenges for an opposing defense, and any one of them can handle a game.
But on the off chance that all three are held in check, Buckeyes trailblazer Travian Henderson can pull big plays out of the backfield as well. The Buckeyes finished first in both total offense (551.4 yards per game) and scoring offense (45.5 points per game) and can get things done in a hurry.
the english is coming
Utah’s offense is far more balanced than Ohio State’s, although the Utes have a 1,000-yard rusher in Tavian Thomas, who has also found the end zone 20 times. But perhaps his greatest weapon is Britain Covey. He doesn’t have the gaudy numbers like Olev or Wilson or Smith-Njigba, but he is serviceable as a receiver.
However, where he does the most damage is as a returner. He averages 30.4 yards per kick return and an impressive 14.7 yards per punt return, including for two touchdowns. So while he can be kept in check in the passing game, he’s a major special team threat and Utah can lean on that as a way to win.
Urban Mayor Footprint on Both Programs
Ryan Day and Kyle Whittingham are both Urban Meyer’s disciples and have worked directly. Meyer was coach at Utah for two years while Whittingham was the defensive coordinator. Although Meyer’s days with the Utes are over, he guided the program to two of the best seasons in history and helped Shepherd quarterback Alex Smith to the No. 1 overall selection.
Day, meanwhile, served as quarterback coach and offensive coordinator for Mayer at Ohio State, before eventually being named acting head coach in 2018 when Meyer was laid off. The day is leading 33-4 and his unit will be looking for a third consecutive New Year’s 6 Bowl win.
