Rory McIlroy MBE (born 4 May 1989) is a professional golfer from Northern Ireland who is a member of both the European and PGA Tours. He is the former world number one player in the Official World Golf Ranking, having spent more than 100 weeks in that position during his career. Rory McIlroy met Erica Stoll, a former PGA of America employee at the 2012 Ryder Cup, when he famously fell asleep due to a time change and needed a ride to the course. The couple got engaged in Paris in December 2015, and married in April 2017 at Ashford Castle in Kong, County Mayo.
The couple is expected to welcome their first child, a daughter soon.
As for the wedding, it cost around $1.2 million and included a list of high-profile invitees that included Niall Horan, Sergio Garcia, Shane Lowry, Ed Sheeran, Chris Martin, Paul McGinley, Padraig Harrington, billionaire JP McManus, actor Jimmy Nesbitt and included. Stoll gave birth to daughter Poppy Kennedy McIlroy on August 31, 2020, in Jupiter, Florida. McIlroy announced the news on Instagram and shared a black and white photo of him holding Poppy’s pinky finger. She captioned it, “He is the ultimate love of our lives. Mom and baby are doing great. Many thanks to all the staff at Jupiter Medical Center and Dr. Sasha Melendi for her wonderful care.”

Stoll met McIlroy at the 2012 Ryder Cup, where she was serving as a PGA Transportation Officer. After McIlroy falls asleep due to a time zone mix-up and nearly misses his tee time, Stoll helps him by getting a police escort to the course in Medina, Illinois.
McIlory later recalled meeting Stolle during a 2019 interview on Golf Channel.
“Erica that week was always the one checking us in and out. She was on transportation, so she was always there in the car park. But yeah, it’s still good to look around and think about that week.” And obviously whatever has happened since then. It’s great,” he said.
