Draft

Smith is unhappy with how his new contract negotiations went with the Bears, who selected him with the 9th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Commanders head coach Ron Rivera is a former Bears linebacker, and if he wants his defense to improve this season, he should do whatever it takes to bring Washington.

Smith has been named to the Second Team All-Pro in each of the last two seasons. His 163 tackles were fifth in the NFL last season behind Atlanta Falcons linebacker Foye Oluukun (now with the Jacksonville Jaguars), Seattle Seahawks linebackers Jordan Brooks and Bobby Wagner (now with the Los Angeles Rams), and New York Jets linebacker CJ Mosley.

College

While at the University of Georgia, Smith played college football under head coaches Mark Richt and Kirby Smart. As a true freshman in Georgia in 2015, Smith played 12 games and made 20 tackles. As a sophomore in 2016, he started 10 of 13 games, recording 95 tackles.

In 2017, Smith was named the MVP of the SEC Championship Game, as well as the SEC Defensive Player of the Year by the Associated Press. He also became the first Georgia Bulldog to win the Butkas Award. Smith decided to skip his final year of eligibility and entered the 2018 NFL Draft.

All-Pro

Well, Washington fans have been waiting for an opportunity to add a quality linebacker to the roster, and today, in Chicago, one of the league’s best young linebackers issued a public statement to Bears fans telling them he had a business. has requested.

To be completely honest, I see this as a negotiating tactic by Rokwan Smith, who doesn’t have an agent and represents himself; I think he is trying to increase the pressure on the team a few days before the start of the season. In the ‘open letter’ that Rokan Smith released today, he ended with these words:

I haven’t had a chance to speak to the McCaskey family, and maybe they can salvage it….
It sounds like a young man trying to leave the door open to a possible solution.
