Although the NFL season has only just begun, Rodrigo Blankenship’s time kicking for the Indianapolis Colts has come to an end.

Blankenship was released by the team on Tuesday, two days after missing a game-winning field goal in Houston. Instead, after erasing a 17-point deficit to force overtime in the season opener, the Colts settled for a 20-20 tie with the Texans.

Indianapolis appeared to be on its way to a win in Houston after driving to the Texans’ 19-yard line in overtime, but a sack of quarterback Matt Ryan pushed them back five yards before Blankenship missed a 42-yard field goal attempt with less than two minutes remaining.

Blankenship connected on his other two field goal attempts in the game.

The field-goal unit would then rush onto the field. Blankenship would kick first, followed by Verity.
