Robert John Whitaker (born 20 December 1990) is a New Zealand-born Australian professional mixed martial artist. He is signed to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is a former UFC Middleweight Champion. A professional MMA competitor since 2009, Whitaker was a contestant in the first series of The Ultimate Fighter: The Smash and won the welterweight tournament. Whitaker became interim middleweight champion after winning the title at UFC 213; He was promoted as the undisputed champion after Georges Saint-Pierre vacated the UFC Middleweight Championship in 2017. Outside of champion Israel Adesanya, no one has beaten Robert Whitaker at middleweight — a fact that still rings true on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 209.
In the co-main event of the promotion’s debut card in France, Whitaker (24-6 MMA, 15-4 UFC) defeated Marvin Vettori (18-5-1 MMA, 8-4-1 UFC) by unanimous decision (30 – 27, 30-27, 29-28). He then declared himself the best middleweight in the world – title or no title.

The UFC finally makes its UFC debut on Saturday at ESPN 67 in France, where we’ll see top-ranked middleweights Robert Whitaker and Marvin Vettori clash.
