Transfer news
Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski is reportedly keen to join Barcelona with a move to Arsenal in the summer. It comes as Mikel Arteta looks to fine-tune his forward choices over the summer. Bayern Munich centre-forward Robert Lewandowski is linked with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea with a £70million summer move for the player, according to the Independent’s Miguel Delaney on Sunday.
There is certainly some truth to Barthel’s claims. As we can see here courtesy of Squawka Football, in 2015 Lewandowski was one of the most effective attacking players in the Bundesliga:
But according to Delaney, Lewandowski is looking at taking on a new challenge and it could open the door for some elite names in European football. Considering all the attributes he has and the fact that he is only 27 years old, the striker still has many years left at the helm, you can bet some sides are willing to spend big to get him on board.
Is going to barcelona
According to Sky in Germany, Lewandowski is set to move to Barcelona and playing in Spain is a dream for him. A two- or three-year contract is worth £25m to £33m a season as the 33-year-old makes his next move. Reports that Lewandowski, who is out of contract in the summer of 2023, has requested a transfer with Bayern officials, however, are not accurate.
Barcelona, who continued their resurgence with a 3-2 win over Levante on Sunday evening, are looking to sign at least one marquee this summer despite their financial problems which mean they cannot afford Erling Haaland. Can. Xavi’s side are now unbeaten in 15 matches in La Liga and are second in the table, but the Spaniard appears keen to add another centre-forward to his ranks, with Lewandowski topping the list of candidates.
The Poland international has scored 46 goals in 40 games across all competitions this season and is currently the top scorer in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League.
In his eight seasons with Bayern, Lewandowski has scored an incredible 340 goals in 369 appearances and is only behind Gerd Müller on his all-time record scorers list.
